Issue 11: Cuyahoga County Health and Human Services Levy

Money from this levy helps pay for senior services, programs for the homeless, child protective services, addiction treatment and support for MetroHealth Medical Center. It would cost homeowners an additional $87.50 per $100,000 of property valuation per year. The 10-year levy would bring in an additional $110.76 million annually for county safety net programs, for a total of almost $262 million. The measure would also renew the current 4.7-mill levy and increase it to 7.2 mills. All told, that higher levy would cost $196 for each $100,000 of valuation. Leader say money would keep the county’s safety net spending from going into the red next year.

Issue 10: Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities Levy

The county board has been making ends meet with revenue from a 2005 property tax levy. The agency provides services to county residents with disabilities. Some of these services include housing support, clinical and mental health care, education of children and adults, and job training. If approved, the additional 10-year, 2.25-mill levy would cost a property owner $78.75 per $100,000 in valuation. It would raise $99.7 million annually. If voters don’t pass the levy, the agency would try again in 2027 and 2028, the board’s CEO Amber Gibbs said this summer.
