In 1912, the Pennsylvania Railroad unveiled four cutting-edge cranes at Cleveland’s Whiskey Island. Standing 100 feet tall, the Hulett unloaders could grab 17 tons of cargo in a single bite.

They became a familiar part of Cleveland’s industrial waterfront before being decommissioned in 1992. Despite decades of efforts to preserve them, all four have been scrapped. A single arm and bucket remain at the bulk terminal at Whiskey Island.

For this week’s photo quiz, we’re looking back at these waterfront giants. Can you name the cargo they lifted from ships?

But first, congratulations to everyone who got last week’s quiz question right: Chris E., Donna W., Frank J., Glenda A., Jim R., Kate H., Krysten S., Louise B. and SheilaMarie T.
