Swimming options in Cleveland

The City of Cleveland’s outdoor pools are open seven days a week from noon to 7 p.m., including July 4. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult or caretaker over the age of 16. See a complete list of pools and splash pads, organized by ward, here. (Indoor pool hours can vary.)

Edgewater Beach and Villa Angela Beach (adjacent to Euclid Beach park) are open every day until dusk, and lifeguards are on duty from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. when swimming is allowed. Click here to check the swimming status.

Lt. Mike Norman of the Cleveland Division of Fire advises against swimming in the Cuyahoga River due to strong currents and floating debris.

Norman also reminds residents not to open fire hydrants. It’s illegal and dangerous.

Important stories are hiding everywhere, and my favorite part of journalism has always been the collaboration, working with colleagues to find the patterns in the information we’re constantly gathering. I don’t care whose name appears in the byline; the work is its own reward. As Batman said to Commissioner Gordon in “The Dark Knight,” “I’m whatever Gotham needs me to be.”
