Will your Cleveland neighborhood park get a little bigger?
Cleveland City Council will consider approving a request to expand 35 parks, four recreation centers and one trail with 100 parcels from the city’s land bank. The proposal also includes using land bank property for a new fire facility in Cleveland’s Ward 6 and to expand the city’s current animal kennel.

Council members will consider legislation at their summer session on Aug. 18. The process of transferring the land also required approval from the Cleveland Municipal School District and Cuyahoga County Council, because the parcels will become exempt from property taxes totaling about $165,000.
Cleveland’s Land Bank contains thousands of pieces of property across the city. The city owns, manages and maintains those properties. Explore Cleveland’s map of available land. Cuyahoga County has its own land bank with a similar mission, and though they do sometimes work together, the county’s land bank is separate from the Cleveland’s.
