Cleveland City Council is vetting the details of Mayor Justin Bibb’s proposal for how the city should spend money on city services, which it pays for out of its General Fund. During this process council members will meet with each city department to review the proposals and ask questions about the proposed spending. City Council must vote to approve a balanced budget by April 1.

The city budget is made up of multiple funds. The General Fund provides for the basic needs, or general operating expenses, of the city. Read more about the budgeting process here.

Director, Research + Impact (she/her)
I strive to bring transparency to local civic data by focusing on information that the community wants to see but that isn’t accessible. I aim to interpret data about communities for those communities, not for the gaze of outsiders. I also help Signal Cleveland gather and use feedback from staff and the community on how well we are carrying out our mission.
