September is here, Cleveland. Did you enjoy your summer? I’m happy to say I spent a lot of time in nature, which was a goal of mine. As we move toward fall, Cleveland is still bustling with events across the city. Enjoy our top 10 events for September. As always, if you have an event that you think should be highlighted, please send it over for consideration. 

Thursday, Sept. 4

Women’s Safety Workshop

NuPoint Development Corp. and members of the Cleveland Division of Police Fourth District will be hosting a Women’s Safety Workshop on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 6 p.m. Connect with other women  while learning how to create a safety plan, how to recognize potential threats, tools and strategies for self-protection and more. Food will be provided. Those who register in advance will receive free safety items. This event will take place at the Killingsworth Meeting Place, located at 4127 e. 131 Street. inside the Miles Shopping Plaza. For more information or to register, click here.

Saturday, Sept. 6

East 39th Community Health Walk

The Central neighborhood will be hosting a health walk on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Along with line dancing there will be a voter registration table, fresh produce from the community garden and the unveiling of a new Little Free Library. Sunday, Sept. 7

Westside Block Party, Southeast Asian Festival

Edgewater Park will play host to the Westside Block Party: Southeast Asian Festival on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 2 to 7 p.m. This event will feature cultural performances, live music, food vendors and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets.  Registration is encouraged but not required. Edgewater Park is located at 6500 Cleveland Memorial Shoreway. For more information, click here.

Sept. 9 – Nov. 3

LGBTQ+ Veterans Theraputic Support Group

The LGBT Center of Cleveland is partnering with a licensed clinician to run a 12-week trauma-informed support group for LGBTQ+ veterans. Participants will explore topics such as military service, identity, mental health and building support systems. Sessions take place every Monday until Nov. 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. Participants are asked to fill out an interest form. Wednesday, Sept. 10

Belong Circle Cleveland

Belong Circle Cleveland will be hosting a community gathering on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 7  to 8:30 p.m. These gatherings are designed to connect individuals who may be experiencing loneliness or are looking to meet new people. A trained facilitator will guide attendees with interactive activities and conversations. This event will be held at the Matriarchy at the Vitrolite, located at 2906 Church Ave. For more information or to register, click here.

Saturday, Sept. 13

Fresh Fest

Fresh Fest returns to Rid-All Park on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 1 to 9 p.m. There will be chef tastings, a kids’ zone, vendors, hands-on activities, food and live musical performances, including the headliner MC Lyte. A complimentary shuttle will be available from designated parking lots. Fresh Fest will take place at Rid-All Farm & Otter Park, located at 8129 Otter Road. Silent Disco

St. Clair Superior Development Corp. will be hosting a Silent Disco on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Multiple DJs will be playing different music and participants will be given complimentary headphones to dance to music of their choice. This event is a fundraiser, so, while tickets are free, donations are encouraged. The disco will take place at 6321 St. Clair Ave. Cash donations will not be accepted on site. Circus on the Square

Shaker Square will host Circus on the Square on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 3 to 8 p.m. This family event will include classic carnival games, clown performances, interactive activities, acrobats, food trucks, music and more.

“We are proud to bring Circus on the Square to Shaker Square. This event is all about celebrating community, creating joyful memories, and showcasing the incredible energy of this historic district.” said Tania Menesse, CEO of Cleveland Neighborhood Progress. “It’s a chance for neighbors and families from across Cleveland to come together and experience everything that makes Shaker Square such a special place.”

Community Baby Shower

Sisters Haven will be hosting a Fall Community Baby Shower on Saturday, Sept. 13, from noon to 2:30 p.m. There will be giveaways, games, food, resources and more. Friday, Sept. 19

Taste of LMM (Postponed)

Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry (LMM) will be hosting the Taste of LMM on Friday, Sept. 19, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Attendees will enjoy complimentary food made by the Metro 45 food truck and the LMM Central Kitchen. 

“LMM’s culinary social enterprises provide life-changing services to those in need through feeding the homeless and offering culinary training to empower and support change,” said Executive Chef Scott Teaman. “We are always excited to share our tasty delights with the community.”

The Taste will take place at the Richard Sering Center at 4515 Superior Ave. Registration is being encouraged to ensure there is enough food for everyone. To register, click here.

Saturday, September 27

AsiaTown Cleveland Mid-Autumn Festival

AsiaTown Cleveland will be hosting their Mid-Autumn Festival on Saturday, September 27 from noon to 4 p.m. This free event will feature food vendors, lantern activities, live music and dance performances, kid-friendly activities and more. Transformative Art Fund awardee, Jordan Wong, will unveil five of his public art installations.
