Twice a month demonstrators have gathered along Mayfield Road in Lyndhurst outside the Tesla car dealership to protest Tesla CEO Elon Musk. They are upset at the cuts heโs making to the federal government as head of President Trumpโs Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE.
Today, more than 400 people – the biggest turnout among the Lyndhurst protests to date โ rallied outside the dealership as part of the national โTelsa Takedownโ day. Activists were targeting 200 dealerships in the United States and Europe.
Jennifer Adamson Gill, one of the organizers of the demonstration and a member of the Lyndhurst Democratic Club, said she wants to hurt Teslaโs bottom line and that of the worldโs richest man. She also said she hopes people will dump their Tesla cars and buy other electric vehicles.
Despite some violence against dealerships in recent weeks, the demonstration was peaceful and drew plenty of police, who warned people to stay out of the street. Police, citing concerns for safety, also warned people not to jaywalk across Mayfield Road or they would get cited.
