The parade, corned beef from Slyman’s, petting a friendly Irish wolfhound – these are all downtown Cleveland traditions when it comes to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.
You can build your own St. Patrick’s Day tradition at some of these celebration hotspots. Or maybe you’re not into celebrating the holiday at all. We have other fun things to do instead that are a bit off the beaten path.
Either way, here are some options – from morning to night – for how to spend March 17.
Brewnuts

- Details: Brewnuts donut shop in Gordon Square will have St. Patrick’s Day-themed donuts and special drinks like boozy shamrock shakes and Irish coffee.
Holy Name Church
- When: 9 a.m.
- Where: 8328 Broadway Ave., Cleveland 44105
- Details: The church, which has deep roots in the Irish-American community, will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a special Mass. It is also the proud owner of one of only 300 or so stained glass windows given to churches by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, an Irish Catholic fraternal organization.
Cleveland Metroparks’ Acacia Reservation
- When: 9 to 10:30 a.m.
- Where: Cedar Road, east of Richmond Road, Lyndhurst 44124
- Details: Head the opposite way of the crowds Tuesday morning and enjoy bird-watching in Acacia Reservation in Cleveland’s Metroparks.
Brownhoist Cider Company
- When: Starting at 10 a.m.
- Where: 4310 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, 44103
- Details: Brownhoist Cider Company invites Clevelanders to try its hard cider and Irish egg rolls on St. Patrick’s Day.

No Class
- When: Starting at noon.
- Where: 11213 Detroit Ave., Cleveland 44102
- Details: No Class invites Cleveland’s alternative crowds for all-day drink specials starting at noon and karaoke starting at 2 p.m.
Terrestrial Brewing Company
- When: Starting at noon
- Where: 7524 Father Frascati, Cleveland, 44102
- Details: Terrestrial Brewing Company, a dog-friendly brewery in Battery Park, hosts day-long specials including glitter green beer and a show by Clash of the Tartans from 2 to 5 p.m.
Twist Social Club
- When: Starts at noon.
- Where: 11633 Clifton Blvd., Cleveland 44012
- Details: Twist Social Club is offering an all-day dance party starting at noon with drink specials and green Jell-o shots.

United Skates of America in Kinsman and Wickliffe
- When: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
- Where: 30325 Palisades Pkwy., Wickliffe 44092
- When: 6 to 8:30 p.m.
- Where: 3155 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Cleveland 44104
- Details: Roller skating rinks in Wickliffe and the Kinsman neighborhood of Cleveland will host family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day skates.
Collision Bend Brewing Company in Euclid
- When: Starting at 7 p.m.
- Where: 1261 Babbitt Rd, Euclid 44132
- Details: The Collision Bend Brewing Company in Euclid hosts “Hops and Hookers” for the crochet crowd and those who want to learn.
